79% Construction Works Completion of Million Ton Rolled Project (CBMR)

The work in executing the one million ton rolling project of Al-Rajhi Steel (CBMR) has come a long way, with completion of 79% of civil construction work, while the completion percentage of the relevant structures amounted to 54%, the completion of 7% of the installation of equipment work for this this project, of which 90% of them was supplied.
It should be noted that the working team follows a well-rounded strategy for the implementation of this project represented in completion speed according to a specific schedule, with a complete adherence to quality standards in all work phases of the project, to ensure not encountering any problems during the stages of testing and operation of the factory that is expected within the third quarter of next year.
According to Al-Rajhi Steel directions aimed at attracting qualified personnel, the work started in recruiting Saudi young cadres for the project. Currently, an integrated training program being executed for the first group, while at the same time the process of appointing the second group that will be trained immediately upon completion of the recruitment process. The proportion of national cadres has been ruled for this project to amount to more than 30% of the initial stages of operation, and in turn it will increase according to company policy, which intends to increase the localization of jobs in line with the directions of the wise leadership in the Kingdom.
The project, which was contracted to be installed and supplied in April of 2010, aims to produce (750) tons of rebar bars sizes (10-40 mm), and (250) tons of barbed scrolls (5.5 - 16) mm.
The project includes the reheating billets oven with capacity of up to (200) tons / hour, as it also includes a line for the production of rebar rods provided with all the developed techniques designed to improve the quality of the product and raise the total return to the factory from which the production of bars in accordance with American and British standard in different sizes. The project also includes coils production line, which will be considered as a source of raw cutting and bending lines of Al-Rajhi Steel, which was established recently to serve the construction and projects sector by providing the different sectors that help in completing the work of the blacksmith in faster and saves more of the cost. It has been also taken into account the possibility of charging the hot billets from the pouring machine to the reheating furnace (Hot charge) directly in order to reduce fuel consumption and therefore the positive impact in terms of cost and environmental impact.
